>>36930052>>36930087It absolutely is. Smash is undoutedly the better game for most consumers, but as a competitive fiighting game Pokken is far better. The gameplay is actually designed around competitive play so there's no jumping through 50 hoops to make it work, you can actually do well with low tier characters even in tournament settings, there's not blatantly broken jank shit everywhere, the gameplaay actually rewards offensive pressure/transitioning into advantage states, zoning and keeepaway is goopd without being obnoxious, characters have way more playstyle variety, neutral play is fun and rewardng, there's mechanics that encourage adaption and changing up combo usage and compsition moreso then most fighting games, etc
In general it's probably the best modern fighting game alongside tekken 7, and KI if KI weren't dead
>>3693003423 characters is a damn good size for a new fightting game series, keep in mind each character has an entirely unique movelist, many have entirely unique mechanics, and the game is damn well balanced so they probably playtested it to hell and back. It only seems small since the IP it's tied to has 800 monster designs
