Its not going to work like that. Sadly the actual pokemon fans who have supported the mainline games over the years are insignificant compared to the swarm of normies and their disgusting spawn.

Choosing not to buy this game isnt actually going to do anything. Because more than half of the actual supporters are going to, plus one or two copies in any household with a switch and at least one child or normie GO player.

If someone has the temptation to buy it, they might as well at this point.

The thing is, there is no transferring a mew in from any other source for LGPE. You want to truly complete the dex in these specific games, you either gotta buy the ball or find someone actually willing to trade theirs. I agree it's not that big of a deal really, but it absolutely is putting completing the game 100% behind a paywall.
