>>36932317to quote a friend, this looks like a mobile game that they decided to instead release for switch.
it's supposedly made to bridge GO fanbase with the main series but I fail to see how, considering PGO is free to play, while to play LGPE you would need to shell out $60 minimum, assuming you already own a Switch and don't want the Mew. it also simplifies the game way too much.
as you probably know, the entire game is also a Safari Zone style (with actual Safari Zone being replaced by the place where you pick up mons send from PGO). this was such major change that even other people at game freak found it controversial.
there's also other things like making the game stupidly easy (aside from meme moves you can also find oddish/bellsprout in viridian forest, both starters now learn double kick which means brock is now a joke); the level curve is weird because the guy who had two lv. 6 caterpie now has like one that is at level 3 or maybe four; dude that had a bunch of lv. 13 bugs on nugget bridge now has one lv. 10 venonat. on the other side of extreme, there's now a randomass Trainer on one of the water routes with Wartortle that is approaching 50s, when in Yellow random Trainers peak in middle 40s at Victory Road
