All female protagonists are only what if protagonists, they never are canon in that role and only exist as a support NPC, the only exceptions are the original Blue (cropped out the code of the game and only back now in Let's go), Kris (replaced by Lyra and now Elm's daughter) and Chicken who never appeared in the story at all, she's just "what if Elio had a vagina?"

Is it like how in gen 3,4, and 6 the other protagonist appeared in the story and thus is canon. But this being different in gen 7 is the implication that the one that isn't chosen isn't canon?
And then the assumption that the protagonist is always the male leads to chicken not being canon.
Because that's a few leaps in logic there, especially when multiverses are canon.
