I’ll miss the Gen3 icons.... but I like what I’ve seen so far.

Charizard is better since the new one is skinny and with a stupid long neck. The others are straight upgrades though.

You know, if Nintendo would increase the resolution of their hardware just a little, they could probably use the old models as sprites for newer games.
Actually, it should already work on the Switch, since the horizontal resolution is more than 4 times higher than the GBA's was. Compared to that, the models are only ~2.5 times as big as the sprites.
