>>36942972This is a spin-off mate, look at the facts: TPCi fails to release SOME kind of console-based spin-off for the first time since 2001, the same year there's no usual Game Freak offering to launch (indeed, last TPCi spin-off was 2015 and all their usual contracted spin-off studios are away working in other IP's for the foreseeable), while at the same time Game Freak happen to produce a game heavily influenced and intrinsically linked to a spin-off, with the part-aim of enticing people who play the original spin-off to buy into the console series again, while at the same time keeping the brand visible, while they finish up the games slated for launch next year.
I keep telling you clever spunkbags, while Game Freak have started calling LGEP mainline, they've simultaneously been referring to the other games as Core since a year before deciding to call LGEP mainline in public, taking care to also stress that LGEP and next's year's Core game are nothing alike, but ALSO (by virtue of comparing it to their past library) re-defining their past work to Core as well. Great, you're playing the mainline games, but Game Freak don't consider them core to the series any more.
As for what I was hoping, I hoped it was Gen VIII, but only as I hadn't realised the spin-offs were truly dead. TPCi not having one ready (nor indeed seemingly planning one for the near future is enough to convince me of that fact) after such an unbroken streak can only mean they've moved on to mobileshit fully as more cost-effective.
