Has anyone else noticed Namco-Bandai and GameFreak have been doing a lot of collaborations lately? I know Bandai's been making Pokemon toys for years, but we have N-B making Pokken Tournament, and now we have an Eevee Tamagotchi on the horizon. And Tamagotchi is considered the big sister franchise to Digimon.

Do you guys think this will all lead to something big?

First of all, that wouldn't be something big. That would be a disaster. Secondly, it is very unlikely to happen.

Something big would be Bamco providing Gamefreak extra development resources to push out better games that are optimized for the systems they are developed for. Though that is more unlikely than a Digimon x Pokemon crossover.

Pokemon is so insulated it doesn't even really do collabs with other Nintendo properties the way Animal Crossing, Mario or Zelda do. Smash is pretty much the only place it does.

well, they did do a crossover with nobunaga's ambition of all franchises.
and tokyo mirage sessions was originally going to be a fire emblem/pokemon crossover until it got turned into a fe/smt crossover instead.

It feels like they've loosened the reigns lately. We just had a big Eevee event in Animal Crossing Pocket Camp.

Would make sense.

I dunno - Bamco's kinda huge, and have many more iconic series and characters that would probably take precedence over Digimon

I suppose you could say that Tekken has more of a presence than Digimon does, but Soul Calibur? I think they and Digimon are about on par with each other. And Dig Dug is pretty much irrelevant now.

As for Goku, Sakurai has already gone on the record for saying that video game characters are their priority, we're never getting Goku.
