The colors will never match up with the gen 1 character trio because Red>Green>Blue for pokemon while Red>Blue>Green for trainers.

The only way to fix this is to use the english names and give red charizard. Then it becomes Blue>Red>Green just like the pokemon

Reminder that Bulbasaur is #001 in the dex because it's canonically the first Pokemon that Red gains.
Then Oak's grandson takes the second starter, which is #004 Charmander.
As the last to receive a starter, the girl gets #007 Squirtle.
It all comes together.

Trainer Red + Green Pokemon = Red and Green
Trainer Green + Red Pokemon = Green and Red
Blue version came out on its own, which is why Blue gets the Blue Pokemon.
