Nothing about these creatures anatomical structure makes sense nor is it really supposed to, why the fuck do they need realistic skin and fur texture on top of cartoon proportions? It looks disgusting

I agree. They should have just done anime Pokemon overlaid on the real world like they did with 2D animated characters in Mary Poppins and other Disney movies.

Complaints like these are what got us Baddy Bad and Splishy Splash in rehash Kanto #5. Fuck's sake let them feel like its fine to experiment for once.

Personally, while I agree they do have a shock factor to them initially, it doesn't take too long before the official models' uniform colors and texture-based eyes and mouths are the ones that look jarring in comparison.

It's uncanny, but it's not the worst I've seen. The biggest problem is that animals with fuzz are either mammals or birds, and Jigglypuff is a fairy, so it doesn't match intuition.

Mr. Mime looks good. Psyduck looks like shit because it's a rubber duck, not an actual duck. How do they fuck Charizard up? They somehow did. Pikachu is decent but looks more like a bunny than a mouse.

It's a fiction, as long as it's consistent, it shouldn't be a problem. Even if it's not 100% accurate. I don't see you argue how Rayquaza survive in space void in ORAS, because you think it's normal because he's a Legendary.

Sucks not being able to read. It's not consistent, that's what i'm saying -that pokemon proportions make sense in an anime/game world but not in live action and that simply sticking realistic textures over the top isn't doing anything to alleviate that.

Ken Sugimori's designs were never fucking meant to be translated into live action, and are only visually appealing in their intended animated form.

You're spot on. So many pokemon have characteristics in their designs that don't exist in nature. Mice don't typically have large forward facing eyes because they area prey species and require omnidirectional vision for safety.
The only way to make Pikachu look like a mouse is o change the shape of it's face and the placement of it's features. Which would mean it was no longer Pikachu.
The whole movie was a bold choice and they have to have known they would never come close to pleasing everyone.

Probably because PIkachu in general looks more like a bunny than a mouse.

Designs look fine, better than I'd have imagined them looking next to real actors. Would accept for Gen 8.
