Is anyone else worried that the pokemon movie is gonna have the pokemon be like animals and imply they eat each other? hopefully there are real animals in the movie as well.
also pikachu should be able to talk like meowth

Pokemon aren't fucking animals, they're Pokemon. That doesn't mean they don't eat each other. They aren't mutually exclusive. Why are Pokemon unable to have predator/prey relationships but animals are?

You realize they do this in the games, right? It's been implied by Pokedex entries since at least Gen 3 and probably earlier. We don't see hints of nearly enough non-Pokemon prey to feed all of the carnivores in the Pokemon world.

They show varying degrees of intelligence. I'd argue that most of them are able to understand commands in the same way a dog is able to understand commands, but there's a huge gap between recognizing commands and actually understanding/learning the language being spoken. The only Pokemon truly intelligent enough to be able to understand a language are the Psychic types that rarely are involved in those predator/prey relationships described in the Pokedex.

I think the best way to look at it is that all pokemon can form bonds with humans and be trainable. But that does not mean they are intelligent beyond, say, dog or cat level. Only ones that seem to reach higher levels than that are Psychics and some of the more humanoid pokemon.

I do hope we see scenes where intelligent psychic types are taking on day to day jobs like a normal citizen, like an Alakazam being a bank teller or a bored Gardevoir working at a 7 Eleven

Predator/Prey relationships are already a thing in Pokemon, nothing's gonna change that. It's implied that Toucannon swallow Bounsweet whole and that Talonflame eats smaller bird Pokemon. Of course they're not gonna be that graphic about it and stick to only mentioning, but those things do exist in the world of Pokemon.

we have known this almodt from the beginning and gen 4 and 7 heavily reference it, even the déx entrws says who eat who like wailord and corsola

the anime is more aimed at children and they have explicitly forbidden to draw meat in a way you can tell what kind of meat it is, only vegetables or vague looking meat
