It's difficult for me to comment on, because Im white and was a child when I first saw Jynx, so she was just a Pokemon to me. This part of the think piece has always irked me though.

who are the reigning champions of "better than you" were denied permission to move their military bases to Japans tiny mainland - where they dropped two fucking atomic bombs.
I agree there's a case for Jynx's original design being racially offensive but I really wish this stick in the mud wasn't the first one to approach the subject. She clearly has her own prejudices to work through.
