If you're trying to make an animal that has no relation to water a water type (like a lion) by slapping a bunch of water characteristics on it like a sharks tail, fair enough. If you're THEN going to push the design away from aquatic by sticking giant wings on the animal (which doesn't fly anyway, unlike birds) you're fucking up. If you're T H E N going to throw away the flying type to make it fighting you've created a disaster.
Flying water lion that's fighting type isn't creative it's bad.
Stick giant wings on Suicune or Simipour and see how fucking stupid it is. Even gyarados, as a flying type, retains an appearance that let's it live in the water believably.
