Diamond and Pearl are way too slow. I tried going back with a hackmon playthrough a few months ago but every aspect of the games are painfully drawn out. Saving takes forever, battles are a slog even with animations turned off, and Surfing, running, and even mach biking aren't as quick as every other gen. Platinum is closer to Gen 5 speed overall and has a better plot than Diamond/Pearl, although saving still takes forever.
The one advantage Diamond/Pearl has over Platinum is that it's easier to glitch into the Jubilife void and get to the locked in-game areas to catch Shaymin, Cresselia, Darkrai and Arceus.
