>>36969300It's not the fact that they're trainers but it adds a level of world building, new Pokemon never has NPCs who are pricks unless theyre henchman of an evil team or part of the evil team, the pokemon world is oversaturated with friendship and rainbows and smiles all around like a kindergarten classroom, I know someone is about to use "WHY DONT YOU PLAY DARK SOULS THEN" strawman but one extremity isnt a solution to the other, you can have a game made for kids without it babying you in ever corner.
