Not really. Incineroar is pure wrestling, from the aesthetic to the base concept. Sakurai gave him plenty of original wrestling moves and it fits like a glove, while it would look out of place in say, Ness.

Actually pathetic. Told you fucks that this is how he picks Pokemon. He picks from relevant Pokemon with movie and anime appearances and then picks what he thinks would make a good character. For Greninja it was the ninja thematic. For Incineroar it's the fact that it is a pro wrestler.

This straight up fucking contractions what Sakurai said, he says Incineroar was put in with the release of USUM, Incineroar's shilling dates back nearly a full year before Sun and Moon were even out. How the fuck would TCPI scramble to force Incineroar in everything when it was already planned to be in everything from the get go? Almost like TCPI made Sakurai choose Incineroar and this is the second time we've heard the "n-no I swear I picked it myself" excuse following Greninja, who had the exact same circumstances of shilling.

but yeah havent watched the anime so I'll take your word on that one, but I have never seen gen 7 merch outside of the first form starters, mimikyu or alolan forms

Because the whole point of Smash is that it's a crossover

Making a Pokemon-only Smash style game when there are already Pokemon in Smash would be redundant, it'd be like making a Smash game with only Mario characters or one with only Fire Emblem characters

Same was true of Greninja until 2016
