Yep, I remember not knowing which was which, but knowing about kabuto and omanyte from the trading cards. Picked the helix fossil, hoping it was kabuto, and found out I'd picked wrong once it came to life in cinnabar. Feltbadman

Does it really matter. The base forms of the fossils are cute as hell, but when they evolve they become ugly.

They aren't even that good competitively at all so you may as well just keep them as their superior unevolved designs.

I picked Omanyte back then because my sister picked Kabuto.
But then HGSS came around and I found out Omanyte was version exclusive to the one I preferred. Now I genuinely like Omanyte. Even after the TPP crap.

They're a lot more comparable in Gen III since Kabutops has no physical water stab and Omastar has no special rock stab and they both have their merits these days. Omastar getting shell smash was huge for it. Just a shame there isn't a much better special rock move.
