>>36979654This didn't break the lore, per se. All we know now is that Gen 7 take place, at most, 10 years after Gen 1.
In SM, the Trial Captains mention that they start their duties from the time they complete their challenge at age 11, and they stop becoming captains once they reach age 20. So Mina is, at most, 19 in Gen 7. The fact that Mina doesn't have the amulet means that she probably didn't reach the age of 11 by this point. She doesn't have her island challenge amulet or her trial captain badge, so she didn't do either of those yet. And she looks way too old to be a preschooler or a lass. She is definitely older than 5-7 but younger than 11. Since Grimsley's Gen 7 art sheet shows that Gen 7 takes place 2 years after BW2, I'll say she's 9.
What we know from the timeline overall:
Gen 1/3 ---3 years ---> Gen 2/4 -----Unspecified period of time later---> BW ------2 years-----> B2W2/XY ----2 years (based on Grimsley concept art sheet) -----> Gen 7
We don't know of the gap from Gen 4 to BW, but it is presumably enough time for 1) Caitlin to age somewhat from her appearance in Platinum, and 2) For the Rocket grunt in HGSS to have a family. So I'll guess 3 years.
In any case, the gap from Gen 1 to Gen 7 is LESS than 10 years. Nanu and Looker said that the mission with the Faller that got killed by Guzzlord happened 10 years ago. Anabel wasn't with them at the time. Anabel was a Frontier Brain in Gen 3, which happens at the same time as Gen 1.
So I expect it to be 3 years (Gen I to Gen II)->3 years (Gen II to BW)->2 (BW to B2W2/Gen VI)-> 2 years (Gen VI to SM) = 10 years. Sounds about right, given what we know of Mina.
Furthermore, as a member of the Seafolk, Mina would be travelling around the world. It is not a surprise she is in Kanto.
We have more solid evidence that these games take place 10 years before SM. Mina is 9 here, as LGPE take place at the same time as Emerald, which is <10 years before SM.
