Yes, LGPE is seemingly Gen 7, but perhaps this is similar to Munchlax in GoD. Or maybe not, and this is all just trivial bullshit.

But to seriously answer your question, we don't know where the fuck Meltan and Melmetal belong until the Bank updates for the 2019 games and categorizes them.
They could even become Gen 1 Pokemon for all GameFreak cared by categorizing them in the same place as everyone between Bulbasaur and Mew.

Its a gen 8 mon. During datamine the audio files contained 1-151, 891 and 892 names in the sound files. so meltan is 891 and melmetan is 892

Yes? Margearna is a gen 7 pokemon but it's clearly tied to Kalos lore and Marshadow and Zeraora don't even live in Alola either

They're at least acknowledged by GameFreak due to the Pokemon Bank's way of categorizing species exactly how people categorized them by Generation.
Although that's bound to change once the 2019 Games Update comes just because GameFreak's a sucker for breaking previously assumed patterns and traditions.

Pokedex number shows what region a Pokemon was “originally discovered” in. Like how Eevee is a Kanto Pokemon, but cannot be found in the wild there, therefore is not native. Hoopa can be obtained in X and Y, Meltan cannot be traded to Gen 7 main games, so it is not Gen 7.

Zeraora, the Poipole Line, Stakataka and Blacephalon can't interact with SM to any degree whatsoever, but they're still all considered Gen 7 Pokemon.
This alone means the only way we can define a Pokemon's "Generation" is when the Bank updates, as the Bank is the absolute Word of God.
