I would have personally preferred if they just made higher res version of the 3d models they use for the current games, but I understand why that would seem boring for most of the general audience.
What I don't get, however, is how The Pokemon Company, a company so protective of their IP to the point where the Pokemon costumes in mario maker couldn't have any unique music at all and apparently restricted Sakurai on the ways they could interact with other characters in Smash Bros., would let a foreign studio go so far with the designs.
