Past the jump to 3D the only thing it really added that could be considered a really great feature was the PSS, which GF then decided to trash in favor of a worse system.

As mentioned by others, music, Battle Chateau (though, the lack of anything else to do after completing the main game was disappointing), and online/PSS were good. Kalos, as a region, is one of my favorites, although the pacing of the second half of the game is breakneck in comparison to the first. But the region as a whole has a really nice feel to it. Wish they would've expanded upon it.

EXP Share was good tho, but I like keeping Pokemon casual. It was optional.

Rivals have been mediocre since gen 3 and outright garbage since gen 4.

It's like every rival is engineered to be as cardboard and obnoxious as humanly possible. Every time you run into these fuckers the game slows to a crawl.

At least Gladion was spaced out well enough and was actually not obnoxious even in his few appearances, but the whole game was cutscenes anyway.
