It is crazy to think that Pokemon has been around like 20+ years and it's never been as big as it is currently. I know it's mainly because of pokemon go mobile, but I'll never not be impressed by the sheer power and consistency this franchise has.Seriously is there another video game character ever created as well marketed and consistently relevant in multiple layers of pop culture and media for multiple decades as Pikachu? Even guys like Mario, Sonic, DK and Pacman can't even compete. Fucking Mickey Mouse and Scooby Doo can't compete. The Pokemon franchise is worth more than Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, DC, etc. With Stan Lee now dead the capeshit sphere is weakening and time for Pokemon has come. Reynolds knew what was coming and jumped ship quick. Pokemon IS the capeshit killer and the best part is I don't think GameFreak will ever hand it over to Disney. It's only a matter of time before Disney offers Nintendo some absolutely absurd amount of money for the rights and I hope they don't get it. I know during the existence of Pokemon there have been various sensations that rise above, but only temporarily. What will defeat Pokemon? CAN anything defeat Pokemon in the long-run?
