When do you think they began development on Gen 8 and why? USUM were released on 17 November 2017, so assuming that they already started working on Gen 8 after S&M released in 2016, that's over 2 years of development already...but then that begs the question: who the fuck worked on USUM and LGPE? How much manpower did those take away from Gen 8?

they haven't started yet. They're waiting on LGPE sales numbers to finalize decisions on the game design.

They probably started concepting in late 2014-2015 and began full scale development when SM went gold (around August-Sepember 2016)
They stated that they were working on gen 8 before lgpe back in may

In an interview released shortly after the announcement of LGPE I believe it was Masuda who said that the Gen 8 games due next year would be a more traditional experience then LGPE and he even stated that the games were already being made for handheld for a few years now. Probably meant to be handheld because GameFreak didn’t believe in the switch initially.

Gen 8 might follow a similar design philosophy as LGPE, but with egg breeding, the full pokemon list, national dex, day/night cycle and keep all the open world stuff like wild pokemon appearing without the random encounters.

Catch mechanics will probably stay exactly the same as Go's system. Which is why they're waiting on sales numbers. If its poor, they might go back to the standard falseswipe 1hp rng. I doubt it though.

Source? I know Ishihara thought the Switch would tank, but he's not Game Freak and I never heard of anyone from Game Freak saying that about the Switch.

Why do so many of you faggots talk about things you don't know anything about? Game Freak is majority owner straight up of the brand management company that is TPC which Ishihara is president of. It was confirmed to previously be 33/32/32 for Game Freak, and Nintendo, Creatures, and 4Kids respectively and since 4Kids lost the contract one would assume their 3 went back in equally.

You can argue indirectly Nintendo owns more since they also own some of Creatures but the point remains TPC aren't telling anyone what to do.

When Masuda says "Make a shitty but expensive one button controller that doubles as physical DLC we can turn off later that only works for my game shitty low IQ game." Ishihara asks "How shitty?".
