Kanto is the only region it’s easy to do gyms out of order. This is especially true for gsc/hgss revisits.

Honestly though it’s probably the plainest region in the series. Doesn’t really have any identity besides being the first. Lavender Town, SS Anne, a Safari Zone...that’s about it as far as notable locations go. The rest are just towns/cities and standard routes and caves.

It's non-linear and offers lots of opportunity for sequence breaking. The ledge jump after Mt. Moon is also very unique as the only point of no return in the series.
