And no, got into the series with Gold during the release year, fell out of it after Sapphire, and marathoned all the gens after the XY trailer dropped. I pretty much played them back to back and don't feel this intense nostalgia you diehard fans do.
The 3DS games only got worse with each game. XY was a rushed mess with its only redeeming feature being PSS and character customization. ORAS being a mediocre remake with a 1:1 grid paint job and cut content from Emerald (don't get me started on how shit Delta Episode was). SM being a guided school trip with no sense of exploration and tons of lost potential with UBs. USUM not fixing any of the problems SM had and instead had a worse story and some extra hallways with the same shallow padding legendary hunt padding ORAS had. And all of them being littered with the most shallow kanto pandering possible.
