There are so many dragon trainers around that it would be better to keep Lance with his original GSC team, not even the HGSS one.
The only viable addition would be Flygon or maybe Hydreigon, Goodra doesn't even fit him and most new dragons are already Zinnia's

I agree that concepts/themes would be better than monotype, but come on more interesting? They're almost as bad as Hoenn with the Pokemon repeats. The best E4 is the Fire guy in Sinnoh.

Isn't Goomy based in a French mollusc dragon? Actually, France has a lot of cool non orthodox dragons like the Tarasque, it's sad the Kalos dex is awfully small. Well, it's not like that stops it from appearing in other region, considering only like 5% of the Pokémon are based in the real life region's lore.
