You know it’s weird, now that I’m actually trying to think of single specific moments that define Pokemon for me none come to mind.
But I still really really like a lot of these games. I guess it’s more the general sense of atmosphere and tone that they give. HGSS is probably my favorite just cause I really like the environments and tone of the region. I also love going on showdown but never really got into the competitive stuff.
Actually, here’s one, and it’s kind of an odd thing to remember. One of my strongest memories of gen 3 was just watching the character’s reflection wobble in puddles of water. I dunno why, but that always stuck out to me so much even though it’s such a small thing. I remember that better than almost anything else from that first playthrough. Maybe it was just the sense of WOAH TECHNOLOGY but there was something about it, just this totally unnecessary extra step to make the game look a little bit nicer.
I’m sorry things have been rough for you anon. Depression is a motherfucker. Fortunately I’ve managed to turn things around pretty well for myself over the last few years, haven’t had a suicidal thought in about that long.
Not gonna change this thread into a whole motivational thing cause this is /vp/ and not /adv/ or whatever, but I’d like to tell you one thing that helped me in the hopes it might push you along as well.
The key to happiness is the pursuit of happiness. No matter how dark or bad things get, as long as you hold onto the goal of making things better, you’re in a much better place than you’d otherwise be. All the other steps come after this foundation.
Best of luck to you.
