The truth of Pokémon LGPE,
Today I bought Pokémon LGPE, being a Pokémon fan since the age of 8 I knew this experience was going to be vastly different from what I’m used to.
I bought the game to play alongside my 10 year old daughter to share with her the adventure through Kanto which kickstarted my love for Pokémon.
The game itself is basic, and lacks a lot of the more complexed features added in recent additions to the games. It was while playing with her it occurred to me that the game is no more or less complicated than Pokémon blue. I thought about it for a while and than it occurred to me, Pokémon has become rather inaccessible to children. LGPE is essentially a back to basic approach for the new Pokémon fans. The kids. My daughter loved the game she loved meeting new creatures and her only complaint so far is there is not enough battling. I watched her thinking moved like tail whip would be really strong and just smiled as she learned from mistakes.
The truth is Pokémon has come full circle, those who started out with blue and red are adults now.
We have to pass down the gift of Pokémon to the children of today, it’s not ours anymore. We are the Pokémon professors, who say go out there and come back and show me all the cool Pokémon you find. We let our children go on the adventure just as professor oak promised us a world full of adventure we must now do the same.
I’m envisioning the slow progress of adding extra features like eggs and maybe abilities in the next generation of Lets Go but it’s a step by step approach allowing the new adventurers to become Pokémon masters just as we did.
Our adventure is over guys, But the story is not.
