What do you think of it so far?

I think it sucks. It has it's quirks, but it's still a lackluster and boring game.

The game honestly had potential to be good, but they made too many wrong decisions and now it's just... pointless. I won't call it a "bad" game because it's still functional and everything, it's just a game that has zero reason to exist or ever be played. I truly hope that some day there's a modder that can figure out how to program all the removed features and bring back Kanto-related Pokémon like Blissey, Magnezone, Mega Scizor, etc.

Only played through Brock's gym so far. I don't think it's a bad game per say, but without random battles it just feels "off" to me a little bit. At least trainer battles are the exact same. I don't play online so that aspect is irrelevant to me. I'm more interested in differences in story/character interactions and there seems to be enough of them to keep my interest in playing.

Everything is fine except for the fact that trainer battles give so little XP, like there’s no point of battling people anymore if catching some random Pokémon will give you 3x-4x more XP.

It may be for toddlers, have some bad mechanics I dislike and all but at it's heart its still a Pokemon game.
Also some of the features, like following Pokemon and skipping cutscenes are alright.

I never played Go, so the new catching system is fun. I used repel everywhere like 99% of /vp/ so I wont even mention lack of random encounters.

Also it's fucking cute.
