The option isn't in the vanilla game. The menu was hacked in. The code for the menu still exists in the game.

I can barely pretend to be surprised anymore by this shit, was it really too much work for them? If they'd bothered to program the option to turn it off they could've at the very least slight assuaged the negativity of hardcore fans regarding difficulty, but apparently that's too much to ask.

Okay I bought LGP, and I gotta say I'm sick of seeing people talk out of their ass who don't have the game. I'm not a shill, I'm gonna say right away it's far from the best game I've ever played. But it's enjoyable to an extent. Anyways, regarding the EXP share, trainer battles, don't give NEARLY enough EXP as they should. Which means the most efficient way is to catch a bunch of Pokémon over.. and over again. Without the EXP share this process would literally be 6x longer then it should be when it's already next to unbearable. I can easily see why they didn't make it optional.

Holy shit this game keeps finding a way to make me laugh, I've always defended the new exp share because you could turn it off, and in fact SM/USUM get actually challenging without it, but wow there's no excuse here.

I don't know what the fuck, either they've used candies or something but even with some chain-catching grinding and a few candies here and there these guys are knocking out my pokes from time to time. It's weird.

They could have not reduced the exp you get from trainers, they could have made the catching system less tedious or they could have completely rebalanced the exp in this game since it's a spinoff, but all of that would have required effort and the $60 you paid for a game made of recycled assets are not enough to justify any effort from their part

Yes. While people DID complain about the EXP Share becoming an earlygame EXP All in Gen 6-7, you could still disable it. Now LGPE outright forbids you from disabling it, meaning your entire party is always going to gain EXP unless you go out of your way to only use one Pokemon at all times.

Seems to me like if one pokemon gets a level lead from a trainer fight, there would be very limited ways to catch the rest of your team up since the wild encounters give exp to a full team.

The greatest flaw of this is that it's impossible for the starter to not be gaining levels. They will be so dag overpowered with little effort. Everything else, you have only one option: box them if you don't want them to be gaining exp. The first matter makes that pointless, though. It is impossible to balance the levels in this.

There is also the issue of one gym requiring a lv45 pokemon and another one requiring 50 caught pokemon, so a player trying to not overlevel may actually be punished for it, not by losing against a stronger opponent, but by being outright forbidden from facing it.
It's really bad game design all around

Hell, Misty's Gym is a straight up trap for those who don't overlevel unlike Sabriba's Gym Requirement, go in there with a Level 15 Pikachu/Eevee and you'll suddenly get blasted by a Level 19 Starmie that knows Scald as one of its only moves.

that's because the game is built on the code of previous games, genius. There's stuff from Gen III that can't be used anymore still in the fucking code.

It's called take them out of your party. It's that easy. You can do it in your menus at any point. Remove it from your party then continue catching.

This menu wouldn't even show up if this was just leftover code from SM. If anything, it'd crash the game since item management was on bottom screen, and trying to load something on the "bottom screen" of a switch likely isn't going to end well.

They clearly made Exp. Share functional and optional, and then scrapped the whole thing before release.
