First DQM game I played was Joker 1 and I still like it
You could try Terry 3DS, it got a translation patch, its a remake of the first game for game boy
Just like with the main series the DQM games keep introducing new elements and they never abandon them so Joker 2 introduced multiple slot monsters and it sayed and Terry wonderland 3D introduced 4 slots in a party and it stayed
Or you could wait a year for the next DQM game that just got announced is in development for consoles presumably switch and that has Young Erik and his sister from 11 as main characters

Its absolutely amazing and blows any pokemon game out of the water
