Yeah I’m with you there anon. I died on the inside when I saw Gen 5 designs, but I keep playing. Most of my normie friends make fun of me for playing anything past Gen 4. Im a 28 tear old adult

The problem is that there's still nothing like it. There are some really good Pokemon clones like Digimon and DQM, but they are ruined by horrible character design.

The concept of befriending friendly monsters and going on an adventure is such a genuinely beautiful and romantic one, but it's just such a shame it feels like its being held hostage by such an inept developer.

Imo they're ruined by dogshit gameplay padded with grinding, I really tried to enjoy the DQ monster catching games, but the fusion mechanic is so obnxious and feels like a complete chore, while the fights feel unsatisfactory. People shit on pokémon's gameplay but it really gets a lot of shit right.

Monster catching games with fusion mechanics are straight up trash. Having to use something I don’t like just so that I can have fusion fodder is not enjoyable. Neither is parting with something that I do like just to have fuse it away.
