I would like to be able to re-challenge all trainers. What should happen is that once you've beaten them, you talk to them the next day and they ask if you want a rematch or something like that. Even if their teams don't change it would be useful for money grinding, since you waste so many fucking balls through the garbage motion controls and Pokémon knocking the ball away arbitrarily.

Yeah, I think this is a new timeline (maybe it's just the mega timeline) where red and blue left pallet town a year before.
Blue mentions how they didn't have Pokedex and had to use a paper map to mark the pokemon locations.

I haven't played the game yet but i wanna ask if this is viable/possible:

I wanna catch a dratini as early as possible, route 10 in the water, and to do i would catch an onyx, so i could acess wild flying pokemon, and catch a charizard, so i can encounter pokemon in the water

Please point out my flaws and do tell me if there's any way i can catch one before running through half the map

Not him but is that entirely how it works in this? To fly you have to have a Pokemon that's big enough and flies, and to surf you have to get a water Pokemon that's big enough? Any prerequisites like Surf/Fly HMs and whatnot?

No, that's the point. It works nothing like that. You have to have the equivalent of Surf to catch water mons and you need to be post-game and have a flying ridable mon to fly (not fast-travel; you can do that earlier).

Charizard doesn't fly over water until post game, and even then its too high up to catch the Pokemon in the water. The earliest you can get a Dratini is to rescue Fuji in Lavender Tower, wake up Snorlax and go to Fuchsia to get the Surfboard. So you can get a Dratini before battling Erika.

Don't turn off the system (can sleep mode for clarification)
Don't catch another Pokemon
Close the software from home menu

If a Pokemon in the chain flees it kills it. Not sure if running from a Pokemon in the chain kills it, others can confirm.

picking up a switch this black friday along with Lets Go Pikachu for the pokemon yellow nostalgiatrip and botw
looks incredibly comfy to play desu and by the looks of it you could just go catching pokemon for hours on end for ivs/shinys

I don't mind the seperation of catching and fighting, although I do wish the game came with a NG+ hardmode that just amped up the trainers in terms of difficulty and amount of pokemon seems it LOOKS extremely easy.
A friend of mine wanted to co-up through the game as well but I am fearful that we'll just end up demolishing it really fast
also had kinda hoped this would be more along the lines of pokemon stadium in terms of end-game and online play

Can you guys give me your thoughts on the difficulty and online/end-game matches?

Difficulty is fucking nonexistent. I'm barely catching Pokemon, just fighting trainers and I'm absolutely fucking steamrolling the ""game"" with just Eevee and Ivysaur alone. I'm up to Cerulean and that's when Eevee can learn the ridiculously named ultra OP moves too, I'm not sure how much Pikachu can learn but I'm pretty sure it gets 90BP STAB by then with its boosted BST and guaranteed amie bonuses. I never once molested my Eevee but interacting with the fountain in Cerulean instantly bumps it up to the equivalent of 2-3 amie hearts, in case special 90BP moves weren't enough.

I hope you can return what you bought.

Gonna pick up my copy this friday
Not buying a switch for just pokemon lets go ofcourse, but seeing as the next main title will be on switch along with the next main FE title also being on it, it's a nobrainer to get a switch, it has quite a decent library right now

The framedrops posted here and there have me worried though, seems like the device might struggle with performance

I'm up to Celadon. Boxed Eevee, have a team of 5 mons. I'm consistently a few levels behind the trainers, had to run back and heal all throughout Rock Tunnel and Pokemon Tower. I'm not sure what you call difficult, but it's definitely not a cakewalk.

We'll see what happens when I reach there, in my other Kanto game playthrough I always notice that difficulty goes up once I actually catch the Pokemon I like and put them on my team around Fuschia. I'm going to keep the Eevee since it's clear that GF meant for it to stay with you always, it wouldn't be fair for me to judge the game's difficulty otherwise.

An exploit was just found where if you use a support trainer and have the first trainer hold a Masterball the circle is always green and makes Pokemon signifigantly easier to catch. I just caught 3 Rhydons in Victory Road using a Pokeball and Articuno in 5 balls. Abuse it before it's patched to chain harder mons

I'm enjoying myself more than I thought I would. I boxed my starter, am not catching too many Pokemon and am not using candies, so I've had a couple battles that have given me an ounce of challenege so far.

I have to wonder, by the time I hit endgame will the lack of any EVs or AVs on my mons cripple me? I'm hoping it'll make the game harder but I dont want to make it impossible.

Thanks. I am almost convinced to just move forward and redeem him. I read something about the three Gen 1 starters having been gifted to users? Are they already waiting for me or does this happen later in the game? I heard people saying you can influence these Pokémons' natures.

Definitely don't rush yourself if you don't need to, but at the same time having an imperfect Mew isn't the worst thing.

Different NPCs will gift you one of each starter as you progress through the game. You can encounter the starters as rare spawn, chain them for more encounters, and use that method to get the optimal nature. I think there's also a NPC which can also influence the nature of the pokemon you encounter. For all of these, you should be free to soft reset as long as you save beforehand.

I almost got wiped by terry, but I had a shitton of items so I was able to keep healing myself like he kept spamming full restores for 3 turns. it's surprisingly easy to end up underleveled if you aren't catching everything in sight, and this is even after feeding my Dragonair so many speed candies from Vulpix farming that she had 150+ speed at level 46~8, but then again, my setup relied on my Dragonair getting a screen up and then having my Eevee apply seed and burn, and occasionally having my ninetales confuse and Fire Spin for good measure

I had my game on Set since the start and I don't use Items in battle and the trainers started to get tough around Fuchsia. Not to mention the Elite Four have really solid movesets in the rematches and my team get's countered quite often. Some Pokemon are given moves like Iron Tail to wreck Fairy's. Also the AI isn't bad either as they often switch Pokemon to resist the upcoming move and Bruno uses shit like Stealth Rock for flying types. Loving this game

It's a thin book, I guess if someone has one of those angled scanners it'll be fine since it does use a hard binding. You can see from the twitter photos that it can put it flat on the table. I just personally don't want to crease the front/back covers to flatten it completely.

I can try it out in my office after the holidays if no one else gets to it.

my first playthrough was:
- set
- no candies
- no starter
- only catch for pokedex, not to grind

Quite tough until at least Fuchsia. By that time you usually have a stable team, which means table EXP gains for everyone, which means the right routes leading to Fuchsia with their millions of trainers level you nicely.

I reached Sabrina with my mons in the 42-46 range and finished the League at around 52.

I did use items though (revives + potions). It would be a real challenge without them when playing blind.

To be honest I had a hard time navigating through Rock Tunnel because I didn't have Flash nor potions to cure my pokémon, I also didn't changed my team. Since I don't catch a lot of pokémon, mine were a little underleveled. Based Eevee carried my ass in the last floor.

Played the same way and the game was pretty fucking hard for me. Had to run back to the PC to heal after every 3 or 4 trainer battles.
It also didnt help that i used low IV mons that i just happened to catch like Charmandar and Bulbasaur since i got them before i reached the NPCs who give them to you.

At first luck but then it gets super easy. In caves and routes whenever you leave the room or come back the pokemon respawn. In Cerluean cave there is a massive room with a bunch of ladders, go in and out of the room with a lure until you find a chansey and do the same thing over and over. The more you chain the more common the Pokemon you're chaining appears as well as other rare Pokemon. Now I don't have to leave the room anymore and walk around and they spawn every couple of seconds. I'm on chain 14 and 3 just spawned in front of me. also using the second joycon as if you were playing co op raises the EXP gained. I get 7-9k per catch

There aren't time limits but some Pokemon have a chance to run except Legends so keep that in mind. However Legends and Snorlax have a 5 minute timer to knock them out before you can catch them but after that nothing

The game is fun and if you put limits on yourself it can be quite challenging especially towards the end. Gary still appears throughout the story to help you and your rival out and is one of the harder post game fights that you can rechallenge. The Pokemon variety is great too thanks to the overworld pokemon and you can catch nearly every Pokemon out in the wild including shit like Mr. Mime, Charizard, Chansey, Kangaskhan, Dragonite, the Hitmons, Porygon, lapras, and a bunch of other cool shit

When you think about it, there is nothing challenging in them - usually you just mesh A to steamroll through them. I would say it's pretty boring. I'm not saying catching shit is super fun, but it's certainly not worse than what we had in terms of interesting mechanics.

And the important Pokémon still have a battle (in which they have boosted stats) before you can catch them.

What do you get out of wild battles? Wow you press A to instakill pokemon, what a big loss, oh you don't have that pokemon yet? Use false swipe and then press A to catch. This game got rid of the time filler of wild battles and it's great.

Yeah, I didn't have any problems with overleveling or feeling overpowered by simply not catching mons other than the ones I needed for the Pokedex/to meet Gym/gift requirments and ditching the OP starter.

It's new in this game. The only real purpose for them is that when you catch them you get more EXP. The size doesn't show in battle and only really matters for the Pokedex

the pikachu code get you something instantly.

There is still a lot of newbie for battle but a small % of actually good as expected for the first few days.

I actually got all my exclusive from trading with strangers, so people aren't completely stupid.

Pokeballs are earned after trainer battles . You usually get like 3-5 balls per battle. Money's not much of a problem since pokeball prices are cut in half in this game and items like hidden nuggets and shit respawn in tons of places daily

Oh, another thing I found interesting was that the Pokedex only shows data for Shiny Mewtwo since I've never technically seen a normal one. I don't remember if previous generations did that or when it started if they did.

It's talking about Rare Candies in Go not Let's Go. In Go Rare Candies works for any Pokemon. If you have 380 Meltan Candies and 20 Rare Candies then you could evolve it
