I relatively shouldn’t even blame Masuda for what happened considering how much effort was in BW2 and only sold pretty well to the barebones XY where every NPC wanted to suck you off turned out to be a literal system seller.

Plenty of people use primarily new pokemon for their first runs of new games. Gen 3 and Gen 4's unexpected success proved this. It's just that many of Gen 5's pokemon were both unfun to use due to their bad movesets and they were visually unappealing. There's a reason why Unova pokemon have been consistently at the bottom of popularity polls to this day.

It's amusing the number of Youtubers that seem to hate themselves. It's along the same lines as the reason I quit my first job as an office bitch – you generate a bunch of shit (in my case a bunch of reports no one would ever read, in their case a bunch of videos overanalysing a hobby) that does nothing for the economy, doesn't help anyone, etc.

Honestly they need to get rid of the mechanic as is and just make them alternate evolutions
Most Mega Pokemon aren't even strong enough to warrant competition with the top tier Megas
You'll never use them competitively because there's a few stand out objectively better Megas
As alternate evolutions they'd at least make these Pokemon viable again
Just make a "Mega Stone" evolution stone like the others and they should be done with it
