Making LGPE Gen 1 only without taking into account the lack of dark types was a brainlet move considering how OP psychic types were the first time around. At the very least they could have given Electabuzz a dark alola form and retyped Electrode and Primeape as secondary dark

Pic related is a smart way of adding underrep types to gen 1

Because they were only weak to Bug, which only had moves with 25 or less power? Because they had high Special stats that governed both offense and defense? Because the only things that resisted Psychic were other Psychic types?

Half of Psychic's problem the first time around was that there were no good Bug or Ghost type moves. Now that we have shit like Bug Buzz and Shadow Ball, this isn't as much of an issue. Now granted, there are no truly strong Gen I Bug types, and Gengar's weakened by his Poison typing, but...

Bug moves sucked in Gen 1 and we have decent bug moves now. Psychic wasnt weak to ghost until gen 2 and we have a good ghost. Dark still has moves but isnt the only answer to psychic.

In addition this game favors defense. Chansey doesnt give a fuck about Mewtwo. At all.

Psychic was powerful because of what the type was, not just which pokemon posessed it. Most of the Gen 1 behemoths won't be so potent when faced with new threats and mechanics.

For a roster of 151+2 mons, 4-5 fully evolved dark types and 3-4 fully evolved steel types is quite enough, compared to only having 2 fucking fully evolved ghosts (one of which sadly isn't good because it's weak to rocks and lacks shadow bone) and dragons (all of them weak to rocks and lacking DD).

Anyways, in the candyless meta, I don't think there's any dark type you'd use other than a-muk, which fully covers alakazam, and mega gyara, which covers any non-dazzlimg gleam zam. In the candied meta, you can literally run anything you please, from SD a-raticate to special a-muk. They didn't mind the lack of dark types when they made firered so why would they care now that you actually have them?

Wouldnt the candy meta just balances itself? You have roided mons vs. roided mons and "meta" means that everyone is maxed out with 200 candies

As I explained to a different anon the other day, this would be the case if it was every stat except HP. An attacking pokemon uses a single stat, Atk or SpA, but a defending pokemon uses two, Def or SpD and HP, and as a result, when you allow players to add 200 points to every stat without drawback, every pokemon's defensive capabilities grow TWICE as fast as the offensive ones. Candied LGPE is a meta where chansey is not guaranteed to die to STAB superpower from full HP, or alolan sandslash to die from a fire punch, or uninvested non-setup megazam to deal any meaningful damage to any mon that isn't a poison or fighting type. There's a single heal bell user and very few recovery options, paired with omnipresent rocks that can't be removed, which in turn causes many mons to choose rest with no sleep talk as their only recovery choice. It is a SLOW meta, and I was glad to hear a few days back that there's a candyless version, since I still want to try it in showdown.

And for the record, the same would happen even with the EV system if you could put 252 in all stats, albeit to a lesser extent since it's only 63-64 effective points in stats instead of 200. In gen 7 balanced hackmons, you can put 252 EVs on every stat and all mons are effectively bulkier than normal, but it's less noticeable because everything uses v-create or psycho boost. In lgpe, besides the ridiculous bulk candy provides, moves don't increase in average base power accordingly.
