The Spanish translations are made from Spaniards for Spaniards (at least the ones that speak Castellano). When one Latin American country translates something, it's to be consumed for the rest of Latin American countries too. Mexicans know this but they pepper the texts with every localism they can add. And while it can give some charm to the translation, it gets tiresome quickly.

El problema es que si vas a dejar el nombre original, por lo menos podrían serle fiel a la pronunciación original.

Por eso en el anime en LatAm lo pronuncian como "Pókemon" o "Pokemón" en vez de "Pokémon", que obvio no está mal porque así viene escrito, pero me revienta el culo cada que escucho algo tan mal pronunciado.

Porque la historia de nuestro lengua es una mezcla de algunos eruditos franceses que escucharon a algunos estupidos agricultores analfabetos que hablan este “english”, y trataron de escribirlo con sus reglas ortográficas franceses, y otros eruditos que trataron de escribir la lengua con su propia ortografía.
Basically now we have no proper or consistent rules for spelling because English is a Germanic language with a ton of French influence. Plus it was a spoken language before a written one, and we had s lot of different people trying to come up with rules and they all got mixed together. Plus we don’t have s royal academy of language like y’all do.

You’d probably be fine. I’m American and I’m going thru it in Spanish for the hell of it and it’s not difficult. I mean it is written for a kid to understand. A couple of things that might trip you up depending on your level are the past subjunctive (and just subjunctive in general) and when they use the future tense to express probability or doubt. Oh, and vosotros if you aren’t familiar with that. And of course vocab/expressions, but there will always be new words to learn, no matter what you’re doing.
To;dr It’ll probably be a good and fun learning experience that won’t be too hard. I’d go for it!
