I'm gonna miss this guy when GF puts in Bank compatibility to transfer to Gen 8 but blocks him and Eevee like Cosplay Pikachu.

The best thing about these mediocre games and they're doomed to forever be trapped in them.

I dont think so. You can transfer Ash Gregnigger and other busted mons. They already have the meme moves fully animated, assuming Gen 8 run on the same engine as LGPE. As >>37041977 said, going against Landorus Heatran Greninja meta there's only so much a 430 BST pokemon can do.

The problem with Spiky ear pichu is game engine change and they dont want to model Spiky ear pichu in 3DS engine. Assuming gen 8 is using LGPE engine this would not be a problem.

However partner pokemon is so ingrained into the gameworld, you can't remove them from your shoulder and can't do HM moves without them so it has to be Pokebank copy, which GF might or might not do

Spikey wasn't even transferable to gen 5. It's not hard to change the model to have a spiked ear. Sakurai did it for Smash.

I erased my notchy and restarted those games a few months ago. It's like if it's stuck on SoulSilver what's the fucking point?

Can't breed, so theres a big enough issue. Most of my time in these games is breeding tuff I like for IVs and moves. Can't do that here, so thats less Pokemon I'm likely to carry over.
I feel like its a waste to EV train too much because I feel like with how candies work, they'll reset to be compatible with the usual ways.

So this is probably the only mon in this game I'm gonna be attached enough to want to keep. And as covered, he'll likely be stuck here long after I move on to Gen 8.

That's why I'm like "just make it default shiny and let it in the pokebank." Because right now, it's essentially bricked my Heart Gold.

I've transferred everything up to gen 5, so all my boxes are empty except a single pichu in box 1. At this point, I could erase it, but also, it'll never happen again so... Damn it Game Freak, why do this?!?!

Hopefully they've learned their lesson and have some kind of plan for transferring pokemon up.

The Spiky Pichu and cosplay Pikachu are exclusive event pokemons with less than 5% of the playerbase using them. Partner LGPE is used by 100% of the playerbase and they made exception before with Ash Greninja being transferable to Gen 7.

We'll wait and see, but I think it's more likely than not that Partner LGPE would be transferable to gen 8

I changed my mind now that I looked more into it and learned that the partner Pokemon in LGPE has snowflake BST distribution

Pikachu: 45/80/50/75/60/120; BST = 430

Eevee: 65/75/70/65/85/75; BST = 435

There's no way that this gonna transfer over, unless GF made special exception like Ash Greninja with snowflake BST

The Pikachu and Eevee count as separate forms. This isn't new. We have special forms completely visually identical to regular ones already. You have the Greninja example, or Own Tempo Rockruff to name a few

not him, the point is that people don't really roleplay in Pokemon, they don't think they're "Red" or "Black" they're themselves and used their own name. So when you move up new Gen you're still yourself and you want your bros from previous gen to join your adventure.

I kinda hope that Pokemon introduced a locked OT/ID system regardless how little sense it makes

I actually do this shit. Like, I don't roleplay as the generic character but SM "me" is different from XY "me" for example, so I still get autism when I think of trading my last gen team up to what is still kind of a different person, in a different place/dimension or whatever.

I'm not that guy or at all defending this decision to make them untradable, but I probably still wouldn't be inclined to trade my starter up to gen 8 even if I could for aforementioned reasons.

If the rat transfer over, with light ball he'll have
45/160/50/150/60/120 with +2 priority 100% STAB and 90BP water and flying move for coverage. A calm mind setup with Pika Papow Calm Mind Water coverage and +2priority to avoid revenge killer would be pretty devastating

I bet if you used hacks to remove your partner, you would still have them on your head and would still be able to play with them and use the secret techniques. I highly doubt Gamefreak did any programming that makes those menus unaccessable if the partner Pokemon leaves the game
