I'm personally fine with paying for online since $20 a year gets me over $30 worth of NES games which is really what I'm after here. I wouldn't know how others would feel though considering a lot of people don't really care for NES from what I've heard.

I think Masuda is a bit out of touch. He doesn't seem to realize that "catching all the Pokemon" hasn't been much of a post-game since online features were added, especially since they started cutting down the number of new Pokemon added each gen. That would explain why his games always have so little post-game.
