If by seriousness you mean acknowledging death, yes. But usually Pokemon acknowledges death in a way that isn’t super edgy or brutal like other animes.

By tasteful you mean how the most iconic deaths were just cheap cop-outs? Like at best you got Lucario and Latios but the ones that were the most serious had all of the emotion taken away because "Friendship and Emotion brought us back!"
