This fucking episode of the anime managed to ruin Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon LGPE by cucking you out of evolving your starter. It is by far the worst thing that ever happened to Pokemon.

I hated it too. It was dumb. They were never going to evolve Pikachu, though. I don't think that episode had any effect on that. They just wanted to show that Pikachu is a powerhouse that can defeat anything with enough willpower. That wasn't the first episode they did that and wasn't the last.

I'm more mad that this episode cemented the idea that Raichu's for fucking losers and just about every Raichu in existence is depicted as either being a colossal douchebag or a timid bitch depending on whose side it's on, to the point where it truly feels like GameFreak and TPC wish they could retcon it out of existence.
Not even fucking Alolan Raichu was safe from that universal constant of a depiction and is miles better than OG Raichu just to rub it in further.

It didn't do that at all, it told you to train your mon well before using a fucking stone on it.

Keep in mind this is a time before breeding/Tutors and if you evolved a mon too early with a stone you often cucked them out of really good moves they could've learned.

Surge evolved his Pikachu almost as soon as he got it

Webbed ears? The yellow is just different colored fur, not webbing. The tail isn't a wire either. There are animals in real life that have super long tails just like Raichu's save for the lightning bolt on the tip, of course.

Raichu is cute, and is not ugly like what pikachu has become today, I used to like pikachu but everything I like about pikachu's design, or core bits of it have been removed, I like fat pikachu, but the closest to fatchu I can get is Raichu, Nothing will stop me from loving the pudgy fuck.

Its rivalry with Pikachu still inspired almost every other Raichu in the anime to be an unreasonable asshole when it was against Pikachu or a cowardly fag when it wasn't.

The comparison wasn't a rivalry it was more of a comparison for children to consider strength vs speed. In almost all cases Pikachu was shown as a fucknig that always relies on its mobility while Raichu was shown as a powerhouse
