The following/riding feature is comfy as fuck. I really hope they keep it in Gen 8.

They won't, it'll be exclusive to LGPE and even be mysteriously absent from Let's Go Johto because "haha unique game".
They will however cocktease you just like they did in USUM with Hau's Starter by letting virtually everyone else run around with a Pokemon by their sides.

I agree. My one gripe about the feature is the map is too small for most of the big Pokémon of kanto.
Riding around on a Rhydon or something only to have it constantly be put back in its ball when there isn’t enough space is a bonerkill.

I like it, but they need to put in a bike to go with it. It's dumb that you need one of like 18 pokemon to have access to an overworld speed boost.

It's also annoying that you can't hotkey it, and instead forced to open up the party menu everytime you want to switch just for a movement boost.

This is going to happen. Gen 8, Let's Go Johto!, Sinnoh remakes. Whatever games might happen, get ready to say goodbye to following Pokémon (again) and flying/riding around on them. God I will never understand how removing fun, well-received features from game to game is one of the few things Game Freak does consistently. Like they actually say it time and time again, that's how important it is to them.

I want it to return too, but only if they allow you to dismount Pokemon and have them follow you normally instead of forcing you to ride on them.

We thought the same for gen 5 and it didn't happen, and that's after datamining confirmed all of the gen 4 pokemon overworld sprites were still in the game (and b2/w2 even added some for gen 5)

The moment Gamefreak announced Let's Go would have no relation with the Gen 8 games was when they pulled their "get out of criticism hell" card.

Even if it would be stupid to assume that LGPE was shit because you could walk with your pokemon, GF would do something like this because "hurr nobody liked lgpe so that means nobody liked any of the features that came from it scrap everything"

Then the DP remakes will add a limited version of it (only cutemons) for the Amity Square
