What upsets me is apparently GF's attitude toward modern children is they're ADD-ridden and stupid. I didn't need my hand held for RBY, and I enjoyed the power trip that comes with destroying enemy trainers, because I was the one instigating it.
I can't imagine someone feeling empowered by leveling up your Pokemon by not battling them. That's some beta incel type shit there. Do we want to raise a new generation of children into beta incels?
