West off Viridian City, I have been living with the Nidoran in search of the illuatrious shiny Nidoran. At first they were very hostile and would attack me at first glance, but after spending some time with the herd.. they now treat me as one of their own

It’s actually pretty cool seeing mons in the overworld. It offsets some of the initial disinterest once you actually get down to it. Not sure it offsets enough for +200 Nidoran for me tho

Stop chaining them before one randomly decides to run away and ruins your work. All you have to do now is just watch them spawn and wait for a shiny.

It didn't even occur to me that you could just do that.... At what point do you think the combo is high enough to just watch them spawn? I'm also chaining Nidoran and am around 60 combos so far.

The shiny rate stops increasing after a chain of 31 according to Serebii. Just use a lure and shiny charm and wait for the shiny to spawn. You can also run from them to despawn them without ruining your chain.

I highly recommend getting all 150 pokemon before shiny hunting. You get some item after collecting all 150 from professor oak. This item doubles your chance of getting a shiny.

This item + lures + catch chaining = about a 1 in 200 chance of getting a shiny pokemon. Your best chances in the game.

I got up to 220 waiting for my shiny Growlithe to show up. Maxed out on all the Mighty candies and had enough Growlithe candies to immediately give my shiny one +200 in all stats. Feels nice riding around on my god-beast.
