The only reason people defend the shit in LGPE is because it's pokemon and it's nintendo. When gen 8 adds back all the things it removed they will praise it and say LGPE was wrong to remove them

Only if they double down on Kanto Pandering to a point where it unironically makes LGPE look like a Unova Game in comparison.
Otherwise they'll lose the normies they got with LGPE and Detective Pikachu and the reviews will just be 8/10s that all complain that it's "too complex, needlessly tedious and grindy" compared to the "perfect simplistic charm" of LGPE.

There are few actual video game critics, mostly just video game advertisers.
If game reviews really mattered they would utilize the whole 1-10 scale to its fullest extent, not a 6-10 scale with the real nasty games sitting at 5 or less.
