Is this the first case of a character getting a redesign where they're younger than before?
We had stuff like Janine in FRLG and Mr. Bonding in ORAS, but they were just generic NPCs

Mina appears in the game before Archer, and while he was in FRLG he only had a generic Grunt sprite. He also wasn't identified as Archer until after FRLG came out.

Same as RBY/FRLG. The main difference is that Red and Blue started their journey a few years earlier (when they were like 9), before Oak completed the pokédex.

FRLG seems like the best Kanto game to use as the timeline anchor since it lets Red/Blue stay as the "first pokedex testers" and champions of their times.

I'm not trying to shit on LGPE, its just the pokemon timeline is already a somewhat obscure thing not many people care or know about so to muddy it up with another revision of Kanto seems pointless
