He also got pretty depressed about not even being able to advance in a contest for the possibility of being published. Other than that, I haven't been keeping up with what he posts on his blog. I do remember him mentioning how he wanted to finish it some day, if only to give him peace he was able to do so. That was almost two years ago, though, IIRC.
