>>37061093I got my silver version on christmas.
But christmas reminds me more of Yellow, it was my first pokemon game, they gave me the special GBC pikachu edition witht the game included, it was awesome.
I remember I was in 2nd year of elementary school, didn't have a lot of experience with videogames, i had a ps1 but only really used it to play crash bandicoot and bloody roar, not a lot of things to read.
So with pokemon even though I managed to learn how to catch pokemon, i never learned how to switch the order of my pokemon, so I had a lvl 16 pikachu right before fighting brock, couldn't defeat him.
I saw an older kid in school playing pokemon red, i don't even remember why I decided to ask, but I asked him how to beat brock, he then told me to bring my GBC next day and so I did.
I had a bunch of untrained pokemon in my team and pikachu, he taught me how to switch the order of my pokemon and told me to train it until it became a butterfree, he then showed me his butterfree and told me it learned a powerful attack when it evolved.
Butterfree became my go to pokemon everytime I played a new game. In fact I learned how to abuse double team, tail whip and quick attack with pikachu before knowing nidoran and mankey all learned super effective moves to fight against brock.
This also made me remember how I had no idea about the type matchups in the game, the only fighting move I regularly used was seismic toss. I thought it was a really powerful move because my pikachu could defeat anything that wasn't weak to water with it since it was overleveled, the first real experience with fighting types was with Blaziken, never really used fighting type moves or pokemon before that.
