Let's Go: The Game that Saved Pokemon

This game is a step in the right direction.

Masuda was right to call this game "the foundation of the series going forward". Pokemon should belong to normal people who like cute, fun and straightforward things and just want to play an adventure about collecting monsters and battling them. Why pander to the autistic shiny hunters and IV breeders who made the franchise into obfuscated nonsense? Especially when they're a tiny, vocal minority compared to the millions upon millions of people who just lost interest in the franchise as it went on.

If you look at the sales of this game (all taken together, US, UK, Japan and the digital sales, most charts are just physical sales in one region) compared to the sales of Switch consoles worldwide, this game has sold far better than every other Pokemon game relative to the size of the platform (20 million Switches worldwide) it was selling on, in less than a week. For $60 USD! Why? It's simple: no more terribly overdesigned Pokemon that no one finds appealing, no more convoluted game mechanics that no one finds fun, and of course, Gen 1 Pokemon that everyone from grown adults who remember the original games to young children who have never seen the original anime or games find appealing. Isn't it remarkable that even after over 20 years, most young children pick Charizard, Mewtwo, Pikachu, Eevee and Jigglypuff amongst other Gen 1 Pokemon to be their favourites in the entire franchise? Lucario gets some love but almost all of the later generation Pokemon after the first two or three generations are considered widely unappealing outside of a few starters. I would argue it's almost best for there to be fewer new Pokemon in Gen 8 as possible: focus on creating appealing Pokemon rather than just Pokedex bloating.

Whether actually battling wild Pokemon will return is debatable, but everyone seems to find the concept of wild Pokemon roaming the overworld and riding Pokemon while traveling to be well needed additions to the series.
