Don't pretend Nuzlocke isn't exactly the same concept, and that's been around as a way to get more difficulty out of the games since Gen 3.

the issue is the replacement is shit too. im ok with not having RANDOM battles but they removed battles entirely and with how small the maps are and the way pokemon spawn you'll often run to one mon and step on another

Random encounters going is fine. I have no issues with that (apart from the fact that Pokémon don't interact with the world naturally at all, just walk around). Removing wild battles on top of that is retarded, though.

Turning off exp share adds more tedium than it does difficulty. I've grown to like the post-XY style of exp share since it lets you train more Pokémon and rotate your team more freely. They could easily make the level curve match exp share - they attempted to do it for SM, and the post-XY rom hacks do this as well

But at the same time, you can't say that the game is more difficult if you just don't use the new mechanics they introduced in the game. The nuzlocke is something different by this, is not a new game mechanic, is a format that the community made. It's like saying "ok play X/Y/S/M/US/UM but without the poké amie", but there it just was one secondary mechanic and the games, especially in usum, were tougher than LGPE.

Nope, if you play LGPE normally and by that it means with the Starter, its moves and candies, the game will be too easy. If you don't play with those, than you're playing a game without a great percentage of its unique features.

Nope, if you play ORAS normally, and by that it means with the EXP Share, free Latios, and free mega stones, the game will be too easy. If you don't play with those, than you're playing a game without a great percentage of its unique features.
