I meant at all, every Pokemon game I play/replay I don't use any items (outside of held items) and it makes the E4 incredibly challenging, fun, and satisfying.

The originals were fucking hard. This game literally lets you cheat "Vileplume avoided the attack with your shout!" "Nidoqueen held on so you wouldnt feel sad!". There's no way to turn this "feature" off either.
