Who was Cynthia's Ace, Garchomp or Lucario? I know Garchomp is her Ace in the anime, but her Lucario hair accessories always made it seem like the two were supposed to be equal.

In the PWT everyone but Blue is programmed to always lead with their ace. Cynthia's ace is Garchomp. And most of her merch revolves around Garchomp.

Wally has both Mega Garchomp and Mega Gallade; and Blue's Pidgeot, Gyarados and Tyranitar can all have their mega stone. It doesn't mean anything.

Both, but they generally play up Garchomp more because there are other trainers associated with Lucario.

Spiritomb is her real ace. She's the only trainer in the series that has one and it's been on all her teams. Garchomp and Lucario are decoys. It even fits her whole mythology style.

in ORAS Wally got a tryhard team after national dex was unlocked, dropping Altaria and Delcatty for Gale Wings Life Orb Talonflame, Huge Power Assault Vest Azumarill and Rocky Helmet Rough Skin Garchomp.
I thought it was a nice touch, showing the player character what a postgame team might look like. Shame his Roserade was mixed.

They never have both megas at the same time, though. So if one of them is mega, his Garchomp might be Scarfed; his Gallade might be Scope Lens and his Altaria might be Wide Lens (lol).

They should do this kind of thing for important trainers outside of the Battle Facilities, how much more exciting would re-challenging the league be if they had a pool of 10-12 mons that they can random generate teams with, maybe even with a few sets each.
